Visa
is in general required for foreign-passport holders upon entry to
Taiwan. However, if your passport and the length of your stay
satisfy the following terms, no visa is required:

1.Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, *Japan, Republic
of Korea, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia,
Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands , New Zealand, Norway,
Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A.
2.India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam
Those holding passports issued by any of the above five
countries and having either the United States Permanent
Resident Cards or Canadian Permanent Resident Cards are
eligible for Visa-exempt entry. |
Requirements |
1. A passport with validity of at least six months upon
entry. Visa-exempt entry only applicable to formal
passports, not including emergency, temporary, other
informal passports or travel documents.
Japanese Citizen is entitled to validity of passport at
least three months, under same other requirements (unless
otherwise stipulated by treaty or agreement)
2. A confirmed return air/sea ticket or an air/sea ticket
and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat
reservation for departure.
3. No criminal record or not listed by the local
authorities. |
Duration of stay |
The 30 days' duration of stay starts from the next day of
arrival and is not extendable. Visa-exempt entry cannot be
converted to other types of visas.
Japanese passport holders can stay up to 90 days. |

Climate
November is the fall season in Taiwan with average temperature
around 18 - 28�XC.Falls are cool with less rain.
Electricity and Water
Electric supply
is 110 volts AC, 60 cycles. Drinking water served at hotels and
restaurants is distilled or boiled. Tap water should be boiled
before drinking.

Taiwan is 8 hours
ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Currency and Bank
The Country��s
currency is the New Taiwan dollar (NT$). The exchange rate in recent
months is around NT$32 - 34 for US$1. Foreign currencies can be
exchanged at hotels, airports and government-designated banks.
Credit cards are widely accepted throughout the city; and traveler��s
checks may be accepted by tourist-oriented shops, most of
international tourist hotels and banks. Banks are open whole day
from 09:00 - 15:30, Monday to Friday and not available on weekends
or national holidays.
Transportation in Taipei
Taipei is
convenient to travel by buses, taxis and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).
The conference venue, the Grand Hotel, is easily accessed on a short
ride by taxi or MRT (to YuanShan Hotel). Detailed MRT information is
